Friday the 13th (Article by The Hood ..submitted)

GAW NEWS covers the origins of …..Friday The 13th!

706 Six yeaRS AGO

“Dieu sait qui a tort et a péché.
Il va bientot arriver malheur à ceux qui nous ont condamnés à mort.”
“God knows who is wrong
and has sinned.
Soon a calamity will occur
to those who have condemned us to death”).[

On Friday, 13 October 1307,
Philip ordered de Molay and scores of other French Templars to be simultaneously arrested.
The arrest warrant started with the phrase :
“Dieu n’est pas content, nous avons des ennemis de la foi dans le Royaume”
[“God is not pleased. We have enemies of the faith in the kingdom”].
The Templars were charged with numerous offences
(including apostasy, idolatry, heresy,
obscene rituals and homosexuality, financial corruption and fraud, and secrecy).[

After more bullying from Philip, Pope Clement
then issued the papal bull
Pastoralis Praeeminentiae on 22 November 1307,
which instructed all Christian monarchs in Europe to arrest all Templars and seize their assets. on Stake.jpg

The whole superstition regarding the unluckiness

of Friday the thirteenth arose when,
on Friday, October 13, 1307, King Philip IV of France
ordered the simultaneous arrest and imprisonment
of all the available Knights Templar,
and the confiscation of all their worldly goods.
 Because of this unwarranted persecution
of the Knights Templar, all down the ages,
Friday the thirteenth has been considered an unlucky day ever since.

I was standing there, on the banks of the Seine, when they burnt up old Jaques DeMolay. He cursed his vile oppressors, King Philip IV of France and his descendants from his execution pyre. de Molay showed no sign of fear, and told those present that God would avenge their deaths “from this your heinous judgement to the living and true God, who is in Heaven”, warning the pope that, within a year and a day, he and Philip IV would be obliged to answer for their crimes in God’s presence. It is true that Philip and Clement V both died within a year of Molay’s execution, Clement finally succumbing to a long illness on 20 April 1314, and Philip in a hunting accident. Then followed the rapid succession of the last Direct Capetian kings of France between 1314 and 1328, the three sons of Philip IV. Within 14 years from the death of de Molay, the 300-year-old House of Capet collapsed.

    History comes alive
    on GAW News!
The basis for the superstition of …”Friday the 13th”…..

    The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ
and of the Temple of Solomon
(Latin: Pauperes commilitones Christi Templique Solomonici),
commonly known as the Knights Templar,
    the Order of the Temple
    or simply as Templars,
    were among the most famous
of the Western Christian military orders.
The organization existed for nearly two centuries
    during the Middle Ages.

The Goliath has watched a lot of history
and hung out with some heavy dudes!

    The G posted:
    “I was standing there,
on the banks of the Seine,
when they burnt up old Jaques DeMolay. ”

    Jacques de Molay (c. 1244 – 18 March 1314)
was the 23rd and last Grand Master
    of the Knights Templar,
leading the Order from 20 April 1292
    until it was dissolved
by order of Pope Clement V in 1307….

That is a cool pic of poor DeMolay at the stake.
The Goliath’s Shyster Lawyer (GSL) might have been able to save him if he had obtained writ in time!

Law-yer’s may come in handy from the unlucky events
that can occur from a Friday the 13th!

This is a neat map of the way to pronounce a name:
