Warder Park was named after Mayor Luther Warder as a gesture of goodwill by the City Council, who used the site as a park though he had wanted it to serve as the location for City Hall. A compromise, of sorts.
Today, the park has apparently been renamed “Warden Park” by the current Mayor – as a tribute to Councilwoman Connie Sellers, a subtle commentary on her persistent stances regarding his spending habits.
